"Doing a comprehensive oral cancer screening is most important for every dentist to perform. At what interval that is performed is affected to a great extent by risk factors. Some of these are excessive alcohol consumption, smoking or smokeless tobacco use, HPV infection, age and sex. There is also evidence that genetics may play a factor as well. Your dentist should go over your history carefully to determine how often this screening should be done but I would agree that at least it be done, at the very least, once a year."
