Fs Partners With Fort Bend Isd's Gifted And Talented Mentorship Program

The Engineering Department at Forward Science Begin Mentorship Program with Local High School Senior Interested in Biomedical Engineering and Technology.

(Houston, Tx) (January 2020) Forward Science, a Houston based MedTech company, recently partnered with Fort Bend ISD Gifted and Talented Mentorship Program. Forward Science will guide one student interested in the medical device field through a four-month program. Two days per week, the student will receive hands-on experience at Forward Science to expand their knowledge in the biomedical field. The program results in the student creating a hypothetical medical device based on the industry-standard design and development process.

Forward Science’s assigned student will work directly with the engineering team—first in a learner role, then taking action on current projects. “This program is a wonderful opportunity to allow students to execute on ideas and expand their knowledge in their desired field,” says Forward Science Biomedical Engineer, Katherine Adkins. “Being a recent graduate, I understand the value of real-world training in a specific field or industry. The entire engineering team looks forward to providing guidance to a future engineer.”

Fort Bend ISD identified, interviewed and selected a small number of students among the senior class to participate in this Gifted and Talented Mentorship Program. Each student displays exceptional maturity, professionalism and responsibility that stood out among their peers.
