Forward Science Partners with Sage Dental Partners to Introduce PerioStōm®
Houston, TX (September 2025) – Sage Dental, a leader in dental care innovation, has partnered with Forward Science to launch PerioStōm®, a non-drug solution designed to protect oral mucosal tissue following iatrogenic procedures such as scaling and root planing (SRP).
PerioStōm® utilizes chitosan microspheres to form a protective barrier over the oral mucosa, aiding in the recovery process post-procedure. This FDA-cleared treatment offers a non-invasive option for patients seeking relief from oral mucosal irritation.
The collaboration between Sage Dental and Forward Science, initiated in 2024, focused on evaluating the real-world effectiveness of PerioStōm® in patient care. Patients undergoing SRP were treated with the chitosan-based formulation, and their progress was monitored over a 30- day period. Key metrics assessed included gingival health, bleeding on probing, and patient- reported outcomes, demonstrating significant improvements in these areas.
