In the mid-20th century in the US, cervical cancer was the number one cause of death among women with cancer. Fast forward 40 years and cervical cancer is not even in the top 10 among women in the US.
These rates have changed due to an annual well women exam that the medical community has made commonplace, regardless of risk factors.
